WINTER OF THE DEAD (Feature)

Due to hit cinemas this year, Winter of the Dead (METELESTA) is the first big-production zombie feature to come out of Russia. Directed by Nikolai Pigarev and produced by Red Spy, it follows a small group caught in a mid-summer snowstorm that causes the dead to rise and terrorise the city!

In addition to providing mixing facilities and sound design for the film, we were also commissioned to conceive and produce the 60 second opening titles in both English and Russian, taking the form of an animated sequence which plays with the themes of snow, trees, veins and viruses all presented in a filthy and aggressive deconstructive style.

In line with our sound design duties, we were also tasked with composing and producing the opening track that accompanies the title, creating a strong link between picture and sound, resulting in a tightly syncopated sequence.

DELEGATE (Music Video)

We just finished on some VFX shots for David Bridie's latest release, 'Delegate'.

Produced by Down The Shops and directed by Matt Govoni, the clip required some tricky flame effects to conclude the piece.

AFL "SIDE BY SIDE" (TVC)

We were brought on by AFL Media to create the huge CG banner that forms the centrepiece of the Collingwood Football Clubs membership campaign, in addition to grading the final spots.

With the team emerging on the the field, the spot features a massive CG banner being raised which was animated and tracked into live action footage shot on the ALEXA.

The empty seats of the MCG were replaced with thousands of screaming fans, the banner integrated with the live action footage, then rain and optical effects added to complete the look.

CLIFF RICHARD LIVE (TVC)

We recently produced TVC's promoting Cliff Richard's 2013 Australian tour on behalf of Dainty Group. Over 50 TVC and radio spots were produced for both national and overseas markets.

KINGDOM OF DOUG (Short)

Cloudberry films latest short The Kingdom of Doug, directed by Victoria Thaine, has recently completed post production.

The Pozible funded short tells the story of a suicide cult and one member who decides not to come along for the ride. We pitched in with some digital composites and cleanups.

AFL "AUSTRALIA'S GAME" (TVC)

This national campaign for the AFL comprised of multiple story spots requiring digital augmentation, GC integration and advanced grading. Sound design and production of all TVC and radio spots was handled in-house.

BONNY DOON (Short)

Matthew Saville's recent short, Bonny Doon was selected to open this years St.Kilda Film Festival, having been already part of the Top 100. Probably the most compelling 4 minutes ever filmed from inside a 1989 Tarago GLX, we provided titles and grading.

The short was recently awarded Best Comedy from the Improvised FIlmFest

DEAD FRONTIER (Game)

We just finished assisting with the opening cinematic for the new zombie themed MMORPG game, Dead Frontier.

Pixelpickle games brought us in to provide finishing for the games animated cinematic, created by Robert Dowling, including grading and sound design.

POPBOT @ COMICON (Teaser)

We just finished putting together the ComiCon2012 teaser for Ashley Wood's POPBOT.

Original music and sound design were produced along side the edit and animation, resulting in a fun, punk-fuelled blast of Wood's incredible art!

THE APPLICANT (Short)

Tim Dean's short 'The Applicant' has made it through as a finalist at TropFest2011.

Starring Nicolas Bell and Peter Rowsthorn and featuring music by Yuri Worontshak, the film is about a job interview with a difference.... It was a big year for TropFest, with over 700 entries from all over the world competing to get through and we are proud to see it get through to the finals.

Designing and producing the character animation and visual effects for the alien creature and the starship interior, in addition to grading duties. The short was officially selected for ShortsFest in Aspen and the 2012 St.Kilda Film Festival.

EXIT (Short)

EXIT, a moody and beautifully produced film by Marek Polgar is all set to play at Fantasia Festival in Montreal this year. Surface tension films commissioned Chroma to execute a number of tricky technical corrections and removals in addition to various digimattes, sky replacements and more. Check out this months Digital Media World magazine for more information about our work on the project.

LOVE THE FALL (Music Video)

We just finished post production on the new Michael Paynter/Veronicas clip 'Love the Fall' for Sony.

Shot in LA on the RED, the clip follows Michael's pursuit of the girls through a storybook-style forest. Aside from taking on the 2k edit and grading, we also produced several high-end VFX including shots of the 'living dress'. The brief called for a high-end look but with a dirty finish, requiring advanced skin smoothing, grading and film treatments to create the final look.
